Board Candidate: Dennis Nelson

Dennis Nelson
Corporate Associate Member (Quest Software, Inc)

Professional Role & Oracle Products Used

I am currently a Sr. Software Solution Architect for Quest Software.  I work with a number of Quest Software customers in helping them automate their Oracle ERP application changes and meet their compliance requirements.  I also learn from our customers challenges and their requirements and provide feedback to product management, product support and development teams.

I also maintain Oracle EBS and PeopleSoft demo and proof of concept environments along with Stat Application
Change Management environments for demo and training for customers.

Internally, I am also an Oracle EBS user here at Quest Software.

What makes the OATUG mission meaningful to you?

OATUG's mission resonates with me both as an Oracle customer, Oracle Partner, and now, as also as a global Oracle solution provider. The educational and speaking opportunities it has afforded me have been of great benefit to my professional growth.  Further, I have met and developed valuable relationships over the years.

I see serving as a board member as a positive way to give back to the Oracle community.  I have had the opportunity to work with Oracle technologies as well as vendor products that support Oracle technologies.  I’ve served in a variety of roles over the years including Oracle Developer, ERP Manager, IT GRC Manager, consultant, and implementer.  I attribute much of my success to the education and relationships I’ve made along the way to OATUG members and partners.

I would most like to serve OATUG members in a Governance role.

Why are you running for the Board, and what skills, connections, resources and expertise do you have to offer the organization?

I am running for the OATUG Board primarily as a way to give back to an organization that has helped me succeed in multiple roles and Oracle products.  The primary skills I have are those of an Oracle Application user, developer, and manager as well as someone with a strong cybersecurity and GRC background.  I believe I could help bring a focus to making Oracle technologies and applications more secure, better governed, and compliant.

Other OATUG and Volunteer Experience:

I am currently the OATUG Ambassador for my Company, Quest Software.  In my current role, I have the opportunity to attend and speak at OATUG user groups and conferences.  I have always enjoyed the user groups and conferences whether there as a vendor, speaker, or participant.  I love that OATUG members are such a diverse group of professionals.  This mixture of end user, technical, governance, management, and partners provide a unique learning, growth, and relationship opportunity that is rare in this age of specialized conferences.
The addition of OTUG members has further enhanced the diversity, collaboration, and learning opportunities.  I belong to two of the leading cybersecurity user groups.  They too offer conference and continuing education opportunities but their conference tracks, while varied, really don’t provide the same cross training opportunities and collaboration.
