I have been working with Oracle E-Business Suite since it was called Oracle Financials in character mode.
I've upgraded to 10.7 in a global implementation with the challenges of localization. Then it was 11i and learning through the experience up to 11.5.10.2. I was invited to co-author a book on Release 12. That was because of my expertise in implementing E-Business Suite from 12.0 to 12.1 to many customers globally.
The Oracle EBS product team invited us to be the first beta tester of 12.2, which involved almost a year of testing and providing feedback to a fantastic team from Oracle that built Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.

We now reached a point that many organizations expect Oracle to extend support for EBS 12.1, and it seems like this will not be the case. Users of Oracle E-Business Suite R12.1 need to take action now to avoid the costs and risks of losing Premier Support.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this and also invite you to a series of webinars sponsored by IT Convergence that I'll be co-presenting. We'll talk about costs and risks of going out of Premier support and some of the new features. We will have a special section on modernization by "move and improve" Oracle E-Business Suite to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

    Hi Gustavo, etc.

Oracle EBS 12.1.3 clients should understand that third party support is an option many Oracle customers have already made and continue to make - do not undertake a very expensive upgrade to 12.2.X when your organization does not have the funding or you don't see the business value at this time.  Forced upgrades are largely for the benefit of Oracle to bolster its already huge support operating margins (90%+).

Rimini Street exists for this very purpose: to give control and the IT roadmap back to Oracle customers - get substantially better support for as much as 75-90% less money.

    Rob,

yes, I understand that for those customers running 12.1.3 that are still happy with the product might find support options such as the company that you represent.
I believe E-Business Suite customers will appreciate how important to understand the different factors that will play a role in the decision to improve their corporate systems. They have made a significant investment, and it is crucial to get the best of their investment without losing opportunities. These opportunities mean technical improvements as well as functional advances.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts in this thread.
