Bulk Data Load into WAM

    We are looking to determine if there is an Oracle Work and Asset Management (WAM) function or API for use in bulk loading data (primarily past work orders) into a WAM database?

    We have not found any documentation on any functions like this in the WAM documentation but it would not be a generally used function, mainly used during migration to WAM.

    Ted, thanks for the fast response. This will be a one time migration of legacy records. We plan to migrate the records to a shell database schema that matches the current WAM schema and make sure the data are tight and clean before we do the migration so its basically a one time database to database transfer but want to determine if anything special is needed to register the new records or update indexes, etc that the WAM app would need.

    This is a WAM v 1.9.1.2.11 application running on an Oracle 12.1.0.2 OL 6.9 database.

    Hi James,
    Oracle is not very consistent on how the documentation is available for their different products, for example when you use oracle R12 you can see all the integration points using the responsibility "Integrated SOA Gateway". There you can drop down all the APIs and web services available for integration 
    Taking as a point of reference my knowledge on integrations with Oracle EBS, my first suggestion will be to contact oracle support (to identify possible interface, APIs available), as sometimes develop a tool could take forever. Depending on what is available, if any, the path to take could be from taking an excel macro approach (when no API or interface available), or also to develop an API (but you will need to evaluate if that could void your Oracle Support).

    Thanks, yes we are engaging Oracle support so I am sure we'll get to the bottom of it and I'll let you know how it works out. We are hoping its just a database record transfer between the databases at this point. Thanks for the tip on the libraries. I'll peruse those to see what I can find as well.

    Hi James,

    Not sure you thought of this, but RPA and EBS automation is a great way to do things, such as - bulk data loading as well as other automatic processes.
    You can check out AuraPlayer RPA, which has been used to do these types of data loading for other EBS applications. They have done similar automations of WAM for mobile applications based on Oracle Forms APIs.
