Some organizations find a subaccount segment can be a useful method of garnering more detail on transactions. It does provide an additional space for more granular tracking and can help keep the number of natural account values to a minimum. The subaccount segment is often set up as dependent segments, which allows for individual subaccount values to be repurposed depending on the account segment that it's been paired with. However, there are some significant drawbacks to this approach. Oracle enables businesses to add their own internal logic through the use of ranges of values which becomes more complex when multiple segments have to be accommodated when tracking the same type of data. Anytime you are keeping the same type of data in multiple segments additional maintenance will need to occur to ensure everything is kept in line. The use of a dependent subaccount segment will only exacerbates this concern as the segment cannot be used unless paired with independent segment it's been attached to. Looking forward to connecting.
