We were just told that EBS 12.2.10 is the same as Oracle Cloud Applications. My understanding is that they were two distinct products. Can someone confirm that they are NOT the same. Did the person who told us this mis-understand the question?

    Hello Jeffrey,

You are right, EBS R12.2.10 is not the same as Fusion Applications Cloud.  Let's say Fusion was greatly inspired by EBS but they are totally separate products.  Fusion is a SaaS application that can only live in the cloud, which is obviously not the case with EBS.  The infrastructure is totally different, so the person that answer your question might have left some parts of the answer behind.

If you ever plan to go to Fusion, you need to reimplement as there is absolutely no possibility of an upgrade path between the two.

If you need more info about EBS and Fusion differences, I encourage you to contact Jon Riley at AXIA.

    Hope this helps!

No they arent.  The 👀/feel being a completely SAAS product is totally different.  As a consultant the configuration is as well  ( which can be tough to navigate if you haven't seen it.  I can't comment on if the two provide the same functionality but I can say this.  I implemented OTL Cloud and there were inconsistent issues with reporting and functionality on the new features in cloud.  We had many SR's some of which are not available in Cloud.  Such as to copy a timesheet if you have monthly Time cards.  The reporting dashboard was very limited.  Projects was fine though.

    Good morning Jeffrey,

You are correct in that they are NOT the same.  12.2.10 is more than likely the last version of EBS that Oracle will be releasing.  While ECC (enterprise command center) is a 'new' feature, there really won't be any new functionality going forward, mainly security updates and items like that.

While Oracle Cloud Apps are built on the same premise as EBS, and some pages will look similar, it is a different product hence there is no upgrade path from EBS to Cloud; it is truly an implementation on the new platform.  We've built accelerators that can help speed that process up.

A good way to think of the differences is:  EBS is a house that you bought - you maintain it, you do what you want with it, it's your responsibility.  Cloud is an apartment that you're renting - you can make certain changes and alterations but you're not allowed to make major alterations from the core product.
