Ascend 2022: Elevating Insights for the Oracle Community in Las Vegas...and Around the World

Oracle users around the world have long joined groups to learn and share information about common technology challenges. Appreciation for these connections has deepened over the last two years. New challenges compounded “usual” challenges for business leaders and those managing technology, finances and people. Turning to a pre-existing network of problem-solvers like OATUG became more important than ever for corporations and individuals across the globe.

This June OATUG will once again invite the Oracle user community to reconnect, both in-person and virtually, to exchange insights and problem-solve together as we join with the Oracle HCM Users Group (OHUG) to host Ascend 2022. Ascend 2022 in Las Vegas, June 12-15, is the conference for anyone who uses Oracle’s Cloud ERP, Cloud EPM, Cloud HCM, E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft HCM or Database. The program has been designed to unite functional users, IT professionals and expert resources for frank discussion and practical education to elevate insights and improve decision making, project planning and business operations.

The inaugural Ascend conference in August 2021 brought hundreds of individuals to Florida with over 1,200 participating virtually, and interest in Ascend 2022 has been building ever since. Nearly 600 session abstracts were submitted by individuals from 179 companies for this year’s gathering. The conference education team -- volunteers from OATUG and OHUG -- curated an exceptional educational program from those submissions.

Tom Simkiss, OATUG Program Chair for Ascend 2022 and Director of Cloud Solutions at Creoal Consulting, said:

“OATUG is about sharing ideas and learning. The Ascend 2022 Team has put together a great agenda that supports collaboration, education, and offers one of the best forums around to interact with users, industry experts, and thought leaders focused on Oracle Applications and Technology. The combination of a great location, venue, and access to top-tier presentations makes Ascend 2022 a must attend event this year.”

Over 200 sessions featuring customer case studies, application development roadmaps, and tips and tricks will be offered across 11 education tracks at Ascend 2022. The full list of educational presentations that will be delivered by Oracle customers, industry experts, Oracle product teams, and other Oracle executives is available here.

Frequent OATUG presenter Al Marciante, Sr. Director, Product Management at Oracle, reviewed the program and said:

“The Ascend educational program will be exceptional. I’m very impressed with the quality of the session submissions from both customers and valued partners. Everyone who attends Ascend 2022 is sure to find valuable information, in addition to a great opportunity to network with their peers.”

A few of the customer case study sessions include:

  • Oracle Label Security: Let me introduce you to R12s Data Police, presented by Kurt Nuehring from Donaldson Company
  • Department of Energy's Journey to the Cloud!, presented by Matt Toomey from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
  • Tips to Extend Enterprise Command Center (ECC): Case Study, presented by Manjula Ganapathi from The John Hopkins Applied Physics Lab
  • Develop Rapid extensions of Oracle Fusion Cloud with Web Apps, presented by Rajaram Kannan of Equinix

Also, the 2021 OATUG Innovator of the Year Award winner, the Research Foundation of the State University of New York, will deliver a presentation about their Oracle EBS 12.1.3 upgrade to Oracle EBS 12.2.9 to lift all business, operational and security applications to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure – a process they managed entirely via Zoom.

Outside of the education program, the conference will offer a host of formal and informal opportunities for discussion. Those joining in person will have the opportunity to participate in customer-only roundtable sessions – facilitated discussions designed around hot topics for IT directors, HR leaders, database administrators, Oracle Cloud customers, and those who just have things they’d like to voice to Oracle but are afraid to raise.

“The customer roundtable sessions really represent a return to our roots as users groups,” says James Lui, OATUG president. “It’s fantastic to get to interact directly with Oracle product teams at Ascend, and there are always valuable discussions to be had with potential partners. But connecting user-to-user is foundational to why we exist.”

Recognizing that some will still be unable to attend in person this year, Ascend will once again offer a virtual participation option. More than half of the presentations will be live-streamed for virtual attendees, and all presentations will be recorded for on-demand viewing. Conference organizers will also host a kick-off event and an online networking opportunity for virtual attendees.

Registration is open now with early bird rates good through April 22.
