I've got a Periodic Costing question for you.

I had assumed that if I am running Standard Costing (or any other Discrete Costing Method) that I can run Periodic Costing alongside it, by following all of the setup steps but not implementing the accounting distributions for Periodic Costing.?? Oracle Support/Development is agreeing to this, but, saying that I have to start running Periodic Costing from the "beginning of time", from either a very early accounting period (five years ago or more) or from the very first accounting period at the start of the Oracle implementation.?? Which makes no sense to me, as my client has been on Oracle since 2010.?? This would take way too much time to set up and process.

Has anyone tried to use the Open Periodic Item Cost Interface tables to first load the initial item costs, one or two months prior to the current period??? And then run the Periodic Costing processes with success??? So far I've only been able to make this approach work for Buy items.?? Oracle Development is not supporting this approach, which again, makes no sense to me.?? Why can't I use the Open Periodic Item Cost Interface tables to first load the initial item costs??? The processing time for running the Periodic Cost processes can be quite lengthy.?? Trying to avoid this.

    Best regards,

    Hi Doug,
When we purchase off the shelf software, the concepts implemented may not be as expansive as we desire.
Here is the link to the Cost Accounting Guide in EBS 12.2:

I suggest reaching out to the Oracle EBS internal team to discuss your ideas.
