We are trying Purge Order management and AR tables using standard programs.. Both of them are having performance issues.. Could you please advise if anyone has come across this problem? If Yes, Did Oracle help you with improving the performance or did you guys develop custom solution.. Please advise..

    Thank you very much,,

It is not unheard of for the standard programs to take a long time if this is the first time running them.  It is a good idea to always run gather schema stats before the purge programs run.  The purge programs also have very low priority and if the Invoice Workbench or Order Entry forms are open, they will just wait to acquire locks on the tables.

Another thing to look at is to do them in smaller batches if you have not done so and the standard job has parameters to pick subsets of the data.  That reduces the amount of redo being generated as you said you have not run this prior.

These programs should always be executed during off peak hours.  I do not recollect the exact details, but if there are parameters then provide with the smallest range. Also execute them in a lower instance to get a sense of timing.

Hi, I just came across this old question. Is the problem resolved meanwhile?
From my experience, the #1 performance issue of EBS systems is not having the database (SGA+PGA) configured to use all the available physical memory, so that there is more IO wait time than necessary.
You can use the DBA SGA+PGA Memory Configuration or DBA AWR SQL Performance Summary blitz reports to identify such issues, or DBA Blocking Sessions to identify blocking sessions.
Or send me a private message and I'm happy to have a quick look if the process is still slow.
    Regards,
    Andy
