EBS 12.1.3 with 19c database - txkCfgUtlfileDir.pl question

  • 1.  EBS 12.1.3 with 19c database - txkCfgUtlfileDir.pl question

Running EBS 12.1.3 on premise and will be upgrading the database to 19c in a few weeks.
Test is already done and I am using it to work on my rapid cloning process and I have a question about the ability to automate the cloning steps when it comes to txkCfgUtlfileDir.pl the by way of passing the passwords for apps and system.

I can use echo $APPSPWD | perl <ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/bin/txkCfgUtlfileDir.pl etc. if I am running it where I just need to pass the apps password but where I need to provide both apps and system credentials (ie. setUtlFileDir) it doesn't seem to work.  I mean if I try and use echo $APPSPWD $SYSTEMPWD | perl <ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/bin/txkCfgUtlfileDir.pl does not seem to work and throws (ERRORMSG: Unable to get DB version).

Anybody doing this now?  I'm referring to Rapid Clone (Doc ID 2560690.1) and steps that start in 4.1.7 Set the Target UTL_FILE_DIR Values in Oracle Database.

You can use multiple echo statements for each of the prompts in the order they prompt and then create a stream for that. For example, adcfgclone.pl prompts for the apps password and then the system password, so you can:

    { echo $APPSPASSWD; echo $ORASYSPASSWD; } | perl adcfgclone.pl ...........

Be sure to include a semicolon for every echo value. It is important.

I don't see that script in our version, 12.2, but you could try this:

    {echo $APPSPWD; echo $SYSTEMPWD} | perl <ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/bin/txkCfgUtlfileDir.pl

Initially I didn't have any luck but Gary replied to me to clarify I needed the spaces after and before the braces so I edited my long post.

At any rate that worked and just confirming Gary is the man ;o)
