Travel Preparations
As you prepare for your upcoming trip to Minneapolis, we want to remind you of the new REAL ID Act that began in May. Following the REAL ID Requirements will be crucial for a smooth and hassle-free travel experience.
What is REAL ID?
The REAL ID Act establishes minimum security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards. Starting from May 7, 2025, travelers must present a REAL ID-compliant ID or an accepted alternative, such as a passport, to board domestic flights within the United States.
What You Need to Do
- Check Your ID: Look for a star at the top of your driver's license or state ID. If it's there, your ID is REAL-ID compliant.
- Update if Necessary: If your current ID is not compliant, visit your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to obtain a REAL ID. Bring the necessary documents such as proof of identity, residency, and Social Security number.
- Alternative Documents: If you prefer not to use a REAL ID, ensure you have a valid passport or another TSA-accepted form of identification.

Light Rail
- Take the Light Rail – Blue Line from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 (Heading north AWAY from the Mall of Americas)
- Ride 25 Mins (10 or 11 stops depending on which terminal you boarded from)
- Get off at Nicollet Mall stop
- From here, you can
- Walk – 10 min walk to Hilton Hotel
- Uber/Lyft – 2 min ride
- Bus – 4 minute ride – METRO Orange Line
