Interview with Kiran Kakarlapudi

OATUG: Welcome, Kiran Kakarlapudi, SVP – Customer Success, to our Member Spotlight blog conversation, where OATUG members around the world can get to know more about you and Orbit Analytics.

Kiran: It’s great to be here. Orbit is a group of experts in reporting analytics and business intelligence based near metro Atlanta, Georgia, in the USA, India, and the UK. We have customers across the globe, and our employees collectively speak more than a dozen languages.

OATUG: More than a dozen languages, wow, that is incredible...and I’m sure having a multi-lingual staff is so useful for successful business communication! ...I understand that one way of describing Orbit is that your products are designed to be “omniscient with reporting and analytics requirements in operational, financial, and strategic contexts.”

Kiran: Yes, that’s right. Specifically, Orbit provides a complete set of features allowing IT to model and govern a seamless single source of truth while empowering users across the enterprise to be self-reliant with no-code to low-code self-service features.

OATUG: So, let’s dive in on one aspect of customer needs, into ERP reporting, for example. What are key considerations when modernizing ERP Reporting and Analytics Tools?

Kiran: Critical factors include support for report personalization, seamless integration with Microsoft Excel, cross-report column search, SQL-free report creation, business model column search, and data-based report search. Other features like security measures, financial reporting capabilities, and comprehensive dashboarding capabilities are also important.

OATUG: And how about data modeling features?

Kiran: Key considerations include the new tool's ability to convert existing data models, support seamless migration of data and report structures, and the ability to model operational and data warehouse modeling and handle complex data structures. It should also connect to multiple ERP applications and provide multi-tenancy support if needed.

OATUG: How does the conversion of legacy data models impact data modeling?

Kiran: Converting legacy data models is crucial for a smooth migration to a new reporting tool. It ensures your data models transition without loss of critical information or disruption to your reporting infrastructure.

OATUG: What about hidden costs?

Kiran: One hidden cost to watch out for is the long-term accessibility of your reports and data after migrating from Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) to another ERP application. You need to ensure that you can still access historical reports and data without incurring significant costs or having to maintain EBS solely for historical reporting.

Deborah: Can you tell us about the hidden costs associated with future data and report accessibility?

Kiran: Sure, maintaining access to historical reports and data after migrating from EBS to another ERP application is vital. If not, you might need to maintain applications like EBS just for historical reporting, which can be costly.

OATUG: Can you delve into the significance of Excel Report Execution?

Kiran: Yes, Excel Report Execution is about integrating Microsoft Excel with the reporting tool, providing a user-friendly experience by allowing users to run reports directly from Excel.

OATUG: What about the role of personalization in reports?

Kiran: Personalization empowers users to customize reports to their specific requirements, increasing user satisfaction and promoting efficiency by reducing report duplication.

OATUG: Thank you, Kiran, this has been enlightening for our members. How can OATUG members find you to learn more?

Kiran: We are easy to reach anytime, anywhere at info@orbitanalytics.com, and you can request a demo directly from our website at http://www.orbitanalytics.com/.
