Understanding Vector Search in Oracle 23ai (Vector Search Explained)

In this session, we will look at the brand-new Oracle 23ai database, focusing on vector search capabilities. We will lay the framework of how the Vector embedding model works, and how the semantic meaning can be deduced in the multi-dimensional vector space. Layering RAG and the generative capabilities of the new transformer architecture make 23ai incredibly powerful. Let's get together to discuss and demo these amazing features.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the fundamentals of the vector embedding model and how it enables semantic meaning extraction in multi-dimensional vector spaces.
  2. Learn how Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) enhances the capabilities of Oracle 23ai and its transformer architecture.
  3. Experience a live demo showcasing the vector search and generative features of Oracle 23ai, highlighting its powerful applications.

E-Business Suite DBA Best Practices

What is my patch strategy? Which patches should I apply?  When can I use “hot patch”?  "downtime patch"? How does online patching affect me?  Should I merge my patches?  How many instances should we have?  How many iterations are typical for an upgrade?  Which patches should I apply?  How can I give the developers the access they need without compromising security?  What checks should I be performing regularly?

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn about strategies for patching, patch management, instance management, and cloning.
  2. Learn about strategies for managing developer and support access.
  3. Make sure you're performing routine tasks to keep your system stable, current, and manageable.

Demystify Oracle 23ai for EBS and Oracle EBS Natural Language Query

In December 2024, Oracle announced two significant developments for the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) ecosystem: the certification of Oracle Database 23ai and the release of a Natural Language Query solution. This presentation aims to demystify these announcements, explore their implications, and provide strategic recommendations for EBS customers to effectively navigate and leverage these advancements throughout 2025. While both announcements are aimed at enhancing the Oracle EBS ecosystem, they operate independently. The database certification focuses on backend improvements and future functionalities, whereas the Natural Language Query solution enhances user experience by simplifying data interaction.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Oracle Database 23ai Certification with EBS: What does this mean and what should you do?
  2. What is the Natural Language Query Solution for EBS and what can do it and how much does it cost?
  3. How do these two announcements relate to each other? What should you be planning for in 2025?

Presenter:

Michael Miller, Senior Solutions Architect, Syntax
