Earlier this year, I wrote to you about the spirit of transformation we have embraced at OAUG and our commitment to evolve and change to better meet your needs in the dynamic environment in which we are all operating in 2019. Today marks a major milestone in that transformation process when – as COLLABORATE 19 got underway – I announced that OAUG is now the Oracle Applications and Technology Users Group.
For nearly 3 decades, our organization has been the pre-eminent independent user-led source of information, knowledge and solutions for Oracle applications products and their associated technology. So while one might ask: why change the name? Why now? I’d say the better question would actually be: What took us so long?
Technology and the understanding and use of it have always been a key component of our organization. This is exemplified by the number of OATUG SIGs focused on technology and the role technology plays in the success of Oracle product ownership. Those here at COLLABORATE will see that in another way, too: nearly 40% of the 547 total sessions OATUG is offering this week are dedicated purely to technology.
As our industry changes, with the advent of the Internet of things, artificial intelligence, machine learning, bots and even deep learning, we at OATUG are committed to serving the Oracle community with education and knowledge that will help you grow right along with those changes. Now here at oatug.org you will find The Hub, our new online communities platform where you can connect with peers more easily and more quickly than ever before. We have also centralized conference presentations, webinars and technical articles in one consolidated, searchable place. In The Knowledge Base, you’ll find resources on a multitude of applications and technology based topics. I hope you’ll take a look while you’re here!
By more clearly articulating the breadth of our content with the name change and by making that content more accessible than ever, we hope to make your OATUG experience more valuable – more indispensable – than ever. Because while it’s a “T” we added to the name, it’s really all about the “U.” We are here for you, the users. So as you experience the website, interact in The Hub, explore The Knowledge Base and hopefully also see us at COLLABORATE and other events, please give us your feedback. Share your ideas. Let us know how we can continue to help you wrest the most value out of your membership in OATUG, your Oracle applications, and the technology that drives them. Let’s continue to write this story of transformation together.
