Professional Role & Oracle Products Used

I currently serve as the Assistant Vice President of IT responsible for Cloud Application Support for Service Corporation International (SCI).  SCI is North America’s largest single provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery services with over 2,000 operating locations, $3Billion in Revenue and more than 23,000 associates.  My teams are responsible for supporting the Company’s Cloud RPA, Business Intelligence, Financial, HR and Payroll systems.  I have 20 years of IT leadership experience starting from managing projects, managing an IT PMO to ultimately owning support for a variety of business and financial applications throughout the years.  I served as the IT Lead for SCI’s successful implementation in July 2016 of Oracle ERP Cloud.  We were notably one of the first companies in the world to go live with Oracle Cloud Financials.

What makes the OATUG mission meaningful to you?

Since I first started in IT 24 years ago, I’ve always had a passion for customer service.  I’ve always felt like my teams should take extra steps to help empower people that utilize various platforms.  After all, others know more about their own roles and their functions than I do.  People sometimes like to complain about technology but to the extent that we can empower and enable those individuals, they become tools for change in our departments and organizations.  We in “IT” cannot understand all of the different aspects of all employee’s day to day aspects.  We have to recognize different strengths, experiences and capabilities of all associates and work with them to allow technology to provide greater capacity for their roles.  OATUG’s mission of people powering progress takes that charge to a different level of impact providing critical support across a wide range of technology solutions.

Why are you running for the Board, and what skills, connections, resources and expertise do you have to offer the organization?

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the OATUG Customer Support Council and my other volunteer efforts with the organization.  But at this point in my career I feel like my efforts are better served strategically where I can provide greater impact throughout the organization.  As my level of efforts have increased, I’ve always felt like I’ve received so much more in return in terms of experience, leadership, mentorship and collaboration.  I think becoming involved with the Board would offer me a greater chance to serve and to follow my passion of improved customer service and empowering people.

Other OATUG and Volunteer Experience:

I’m very proud to have served as a volunteer on the OATUG Customer Support Council now for more than 5 years starting as a council member, Vice Chair and now serve as Chair of the Committee.  The Customer Support Committee is one of the more active groups throughout OATUG.  We discuss Customer Support Issues with Cloud and EBS Executives from Oracle monthly.  I’m also proud to serve as the Secretary for Cloud ERP Sig.  I’ve spoken multiple times at the last several OATUG conferences and have presented at other conferences as well.  I’ve also hosted several Q&A Webinars with Oracle Support Executives including one recently on behalf of the Cloud ERP Sig.  I have in the past and continue to serve on Customer Advisory Boards for other platforms.
