E-Business Suite Upgrade Impact Analysis, Change Automation & Control

Gordon Halley, ConfigSnapshot / Rookery Software

Increase automation and take the risk and unknowns out of upgrading the E-Business Suite by using the right approach and application toolset. Customizations can be systematically identified rather than having to manually track them down and hoping nothing has been missed. The way the customizations will be impacted by an upgrade can be pinpointed as soon as you know what version of the E-Business Suite you are upgrading from and to. Again, no need to manually cross check for references to potentially thousands of database objects affected by the upgrade, this type of analysis can be reliably and consistently performed by computers, the development team should be focused on the actual code remediation to ensure things work as needed in the upgraded version. Likewise, it can be easy to identify new / obsolete configuration fields, new or modified seeded settings or any changes introduced across all areas of setup. Capture, control and automate changes throughout the upgrade process to ensure each upgrade iteration can be quickly and accurately repeated.

3 pm - 4 pm ET

Automating Regression Testing for Oracle EBS

A challenge facing many companies with a complex ERP like Oracle EBS is how do you perform application wide automated regression testing to ensure minimize business disruptions from your releases. This is especially true when you are a global organization, supporting over a dozen languages, in a manufacturing world with automated processes. A 15 minute unplanned downtime can be a disaster, but you still have to implement changes to keep up with the speed of business. Add in limited resources to complete regular testing and this can seem unobtainable. This presentation will walk through Sonoco's journey implementing SmartBear's TestComplete in order to achieve application testing on a regular basis, totally automated.
