Title: Strategic Innovation Manager

What makes the OATUG mission meaningful to you?

As a self-proclaimed "techy" CPA, I have always naturally gravitated towards technology-based solutions to gain efficiencies and to improve processes. I enjoy the challenge of "finding a better way" to perform a task. OATUG provides an opportunity to do just that and more with Oracle and other partner solutions. I enjoy the interactions with other accounting professionals, users of Oracle and all the Oracle partner applications. While always meaningful to me, the OATUG mission and vision are even more visible right now during these challenging economic times. Most members are striving to get the most of their investments in technology and OATUG provides the resources to do so. I want to continue to serve and contribute to the solutions for members.

Please list your previous and current OATUG volunteer roles, COLLABORATE experience, and other volunteer or leadership experience with other organizations:

My previous and current OATUG volunteer roles include the following:

  • Board Member
  • Emerging Leaders
  • Finance Committee
  • GEO/SIG Committee
  • Membership Engagement Committee.

I attended COLLABORATE 19 and our virtual event in 2020. I have contributed recently to the strategic discussions of OATUG, including future events and ensuring we continue to be the trusted source of education for our members. I love technology and am passionate about education! I'm a life-long learner, committed to my community, mentoring, sharing knowledge on various topics, learning from others and collaborating.

As such my other volunteer and leadership experience with other organizations align as follows: Board Member, UNCF North Florida Leadership Council; National Board Member, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Member, BlackLine Resources for Empowering Women (BREW); Member, Jacksonville Women's Network, Mentor, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida, Member - Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated - active in Technology, Mentoring, Social Action and Economic Development subcommittees.

Why are you running for the board, and what skills, connections, resources, and expertise do you have to offer to the organization?

I'm running for the board because I believe in what OATUG stands for and am passionate about technology and education. I still have work to do and plan to increase my efforts as a board member by running for a specific board position. I possess the skills, resources and expertise to continue to add value to OATUG. I have more than 25 years of experience and served as the Finance SME for an award-winning Oracle implementation. Being an out of the box thinker may prove beneficial as we are being further challenged to come up with innovative and creative solutions during this pandemic. We must continue to pivot. I plan to continue to use my expertise to help achieve our goals, use my skills and interest to help develop new ways to reach our members and ensure we continue to serve as the go-to resource for education for members.

Tell us about your current professional role and what Oracle products you are using and/or supporting.

In my current role as a Strategic Innovation Manager at BlackLine, I work with Finance & Accounting professionals (who use several ERP systems, including Oracle) to transform and modernize their accounting processes by unifying their data and automating repetitive tasks. Like OATUG, this role allows me opportunities to serve as a strategic partner to ensure organizations are maximizing their investments in technology.
